5 Hopes for the New Digimon Adventure and What We Know Now

New year, New Digimon Adventure! This April, a brand new Digimon TV series will air! This time a reboot of sorts of Digimon Adventure.

This will be similar to my predictions for Digimon Adventure Kizuna that I wrote last week, I’ll be writing up five things that I’d like to see in the new series. Since we don’t know much, these can’t remember be predictions, per say, just things I want to see!

5 Bizarre Digimon Evolutions That Do Not Make Sense

I wanted to post predictions for the new Digimon Adventure TV series in a similar style to the Kizuna that I posted last week, but after, playing some Digimon ReArise over the weekend,I wanted to write about my favourite Digimon evolutions that do not make sense.

Obviously I won’t include any low hanging fruit like Tailmon to Angewomon and Patamon to Angemon, I’ll be trying to pull up some lesser known weird ones.

Digimon Evolutions That Do Not Make Sense

While a lot of evolutions do follow a theme such as element or family/tribe, there are a few Digimon that have questionable evolutions and evolution paths, so I’ve picked out five that are just a little weird.

Gomamon’s Mervamon (Digimon ReArise)

Digimon Evolutions That Do not Make Sense

Gomamon to Frigimon I can see (kind of), Frigimon to Monzaemon I can understand, Monzaemon to Mervamon is a bit of a jump – are they implying that Mervamon is inside the teddy bear costume? In general, looking at Gomamon and looking at Mervamon, you would not be able to see any collection, so while you can argue it makes a small amount of sense in terms of each small step, it’s still one of those Digimon evolutions that do not make sense for me.

Palmon to Coelamon (Digital Monster Version 4)

Digimon Evolutions That Do not Make Sense

The fourth version of the Digital Monster virtual pets had some interesting Digimon evolutions that do not make sense completely; I kind of adore how Piyomon can evolve into Monochromon and both Palmon and Piyomon can evolve into Leomon. It only kind of makes sense in a weird way.

However, Palmon evolving to Coelamon is pretty bizarre – a ground flower to a fish? Sure Digimon, that makes sense.

Tentomon to Sealsdramon (Digimon Accel: Evil)

Digimon Evolutions That Do not Make Sense

I love the Accels, it really gives us a few lesser known or underrated Digimon to raise. This evolution feels like a strange species jump in the same way Palmon – Coelamon felt. Bug to army dog?

It’s just a strange jump, but I’m glad to see love for Tentomon and Sealsdramon is pretty cool, so why not, I’m sure some logic can be argued for this evolution.

Candmon Submarimon Path (Digimon Accel: Ultimate)

Digimon Evolutions That Do not Make Sense

This is a weird evolution in the same way Palmon to Coelamon was a weird one; Candmon is fire and evolves into a Digimon that can swim rather well? I don’t understand.

Candlemon has a few great evolutions that make sense; Meramon is an obvious one, but evolving to Wizarmon from Candmon has always been one of my favourites. However, I just cannot see Candmon evolving to Submarimon when they only thing the two Digimon have in common are the fact that they are both white in colour.

Armadillomon MarineAngemon Path (Digimon ReArise)

Digimon Evolutions That Do not Make Sense

Okay, this one is a weird one, Armadillomon to Ankylomon is obviously fine as that’s a natural evolution and Pixiemon to MarineAngemon is fine because they’re both pink, small, and have wings, but Ankylomon to Pixiemon and Armadillomon having an evolution that ends in MarineAngemon? That’s a weird choice. I guess their..face is the same (green eyes and Armadillomon has wing like ears)?

What are the weirdest Digimon revolutions that do not make sense for you? Let me know!

ABCs of Nostalgic Digimon: T is For…

The Digimon that I’ll be talking about today is not a surprising choice, but the reason I’m choosing it might be.

T is For…

Taomon

nostalgic digimon taomon

Taomon is exceptionally nostalgic for me, and I’m sure a lot of people would say the same as Digimon Tamers has a pretty big fanbase within the Digimon fandom.

However, while I did enjoy Tamers, I am not choosing Taomon because of the anime, and we’ve not really seen her in a virtual pet, so it’s not a virtual pet reason either.

Is it because of Digimon World 2003? Nope, that’s not the reason either as I went with the ‘Maniac Pack’ as a kid, which had Bearmon, Guilmon, and Patamon (who I replaced with Veemon when I got him anyway).

So what’s the reason that I’m so nostalgic for Taomon if it’s not for my usual virtual pet or Digimon World 2003 reasoning?

Well, when I was a child, I had to have a lot of teeth removed (more than 10), so every few months I would have to go to the Dentists to get between two or so teeth removed.

Now, I’m not sure if you’ve ever had a local anaesthetic injection in your mouth, but it’s really, really unpleasant, and, now I think about it, probably when my fear of needles came from as I was fine before I started having teeth pulled. It’s a large needle and local anaesthetic injections just hurt in general.

I actually screamed in shock the first time I went due to the fact that I had never been scared of needles or going to the dentists and the nice man said the needle wouldn’t hurt and he fucking lied.

Anyway, I had teeth removed from the time I was around 7 or 8 until I was around 11 or 12 and, at least for the first few visits, my parents took me to the toy store nearby after the appointment and let me pick ANY toy. This was extremely unusual because, except for my Birthday or Christmas, we wouldn’t just go in and get a toy.

I remember only two toys, but I’m sure there were more, the first two that I chose, which are the only two that I still have; a Kero plushie from CardCaptor Sakura and the evolving Kyubimon to Taomon figure.

I don’t think I had watched Tamers yet, but I saw the Digimon logo and I chose it and I was ecstatic.

The evolving toy lines were incredibly hard to transform but I was really happy when I finally got Kyubimon to fully transform to Taomon, so happy that I never ever transformed her back and she stayed at that stage forever.

This is why I chose Taomon as my nostalgic Digimon that starts with the letter ‘T’ and why I’m less nostalgic about Kyubimon.

Funnily, Digimon World 2003 was actually a reward for getting a large amount of needles after this event, which I immediately started to dislike immensely after having teeth removed and my parents found that I was no longer confident nor brave getting any type of injection. Not sure how the brain works like that, I was fine before.

Here’s a slight semi-related addition: I can remember watching the episode of The Simpsons when Homer is inside some video game and I remember my mouth still being numb. It’s funny how the brain works.

Also, hey, it’s my last day of work for the year as of posting this! Happy Holidays and New Year guys! Thanks for reading my posts, it means a lot to me!

So who is the most nostalgic Digimon that starts with the letter ‘T’ in your opinion? Let us know in the comments!
