ABCs of Nostalgic Digimon: P is For…

Oh come on, a nostalgic Digimon starting with the letter P? This one should be obvious.

P is For…

Palmon

Palmon was my first Digimon plush toy, my first Digi Clix that I received (prior to the onslaught of Nefertimon, obviously), she was in Digimon World (running the meat farm) – she was an exceptionally important Digimon to me.

For a kid, or, at least for me, the first Digimon plush toy meant that this was my Digital World assigned partner Digimon and because of this Palmon became my favourite.

I can’t explain why I latched on to Palmon – Mimi was far too girly and I hated the colour pink, and I didn’t particularly care for flowers, so I have no idea why I adored this plant so much.

Palmon is exceptionally adorable in her behaviour and her voice in both Japanese and English versions. She’s excitable and joyous, but still strong. Her relationship with Mimi was an emotional one which made it feel real.

Not to mention those darn Digi Clix again, I can’t remember if I opened Palmon, or if somebody gave it to me because they knew I loved her, but it was my first, and that’s all I know. Digital World assigned partner.

I will always remember how she’s introduced in Digimon World too – “I’m just a flower”. I was so happy that she would be the new meat farm, and was disappointed when Veggiemon replaced her and not Togemon.

I myself never raised Palmon in Digimon World, no idea why. Never got her egg I guess.

In addition, Brady gave me the Palmon plus Mini for the first birthday I spent with him; we were in the city and he went to look at something, he bought Palmon, as we had seen them and I expressed interest – I remember him asking “Are these cool?”. During this time, I also bought his birthday present after he snuck off.
