Digimon Adventure 2020 Episode 61 “A Place to Return To"

Digimon Adventure 2020 Episode 61 “A Place to Return To”

Following on from last week’s review and, of course, our podcast discussion episode, it’s time to watch the 61st episode of Digimon Adventure: (2020)!

Opening thoughts

Not expecting a whole bunch this week – from the preview it looks like another filler episode like the episodes before it, however, there also doesn’t appear to be any new evolution taking place. So it’s somehow a filler within 6 episodes of the finale which also doesn’t feature an evolution?

Hopefully I’m wrong.

Digimon Adventure 2020 Episode 61 Review

Taichi and Agumon discover Eldoradimon climbing up a mountain, Leomon is also there. Takeru and Patamon are helping Eldoradimon climb up the mountain but I guess get crushed to their deaths. We learn that Hikari remained in the forest so he and Patamon followed the arrow on his Digivice and found that Eldoradimon got stuck trying to climb. Eldoradimon wants to return home.

Komodomon then shows up with some rope. We learn that there are Digimon that lost their homes because of the battle with Milleniummon. Lopmon is trying to find them a new home. The Digimon don’t have much faith in Takeru and Patamon helping them.

Taichi and Agumon decide to help too. Leomon then realises that Gravimon is floting around being badly animated.

Agumon evolves to Greymon to set Eldoradimon on fire or something and then Leomon helps too. Are they putting a literal rocket up Eldoradimon’s bum?

Patamon evolves to Angemon, because we’ve forgotten that Pegasusmon exists. Greymon then evolves to MetalGreymon straight after which makes the evolution animation stand out far too much.

How come whenever Eldoradimon shows up we forget that physics exists? An Elecmon looks mad and then joins in to help the children try to disrupt physics. More importantly NiseDrimogemon is in this episode!

Other Digimon decide to help out. There’s a great selection of Digimon appearing in this episode. Suddenly Gravimon picks up Takeru and asks why he doesn’t give up and how he feels bad because he has no home to return to. Takeru says he has a time he wants to return to but can’t – back when he was with his parents and brother.

Eldoradimon makes it to the top of the mountain, but then the ground breaks under Eldoradimon’s weight, but Eldoradimon and Takeru are both saved by Gravimon, who for some reason only now gets a name card. Angemon evolves to HolyAngemon and we get a silhouette of Serafimon.

Do you ever just hope so hard you break physics and a giant land turtle flies away, because that’s what happened.

Takeru gets his crest above his Digviice and Taichi wonders if the Digivice isn’t pointing towards a location.

We learn about Gravimon in the encylopedia and Koshiro says that he would carry Kabuterimon on his shoulders if he could make him lighter. Shakkoumon is next!

Rating for Digimon Adventure 2020 Episode 61

1/5

Unfortunately, this episode was just as I worried it would be – another weird filler episodes in one of the final episodes of the series. It’s another one of those episodes which I would have enjoyed had it been 20 or 30 episodes ago, but, being here, just made it feel out of place, and it looks like next week’s episode will be no different.

Also, this episode had me asking…did the show ever explicitly say that Takeru and Yamato’s parents are divorced?
