Now that I’ve got internet again and the website is back up, it’s time to review the 43rd episode of Digimon Adventure: (2020).
Opening thoughts
So this, and any future episode I’m writing until and including episode 55 will be written several weeks after the episode has been reviewed and fully covered on the podcast, due to the fact that I didn’t have the internet for several months after my move, and therefore, the website was not up. However, all of my notes are from when I watched the episode.
Going into this episode watching it less than an hour before the podcast recording when I’ve been moving house all day has a different feel…especially when, during the course of the day, the episode has basically been spoiled for me.
Oh well, at least it looks like it’s something I’ll enjoy.
Digimon Adventure 2020 Episode 43 “Clash, the King of Digimon”
Digimon Adventure 2020 Episode 43 Review
The characters are going through towards FAGA, but Tailmon says that the landscape is different, and wonders if the lightning has changes the land.
Meanwhile, Etemon is performing a concert to Gazimon and Nanimon. His song is different to the original which is nice, but it sounds like a mix between Eminem and the beasty boys. Though tthe start sounds like the start of ‘Hey Digimon’.
Gazimon get changed into Etemon suits, but then Volcamon shows up and starts exercising and starts rapping and the audience now cheer for Volcamon as they work out.
Etemon thinks entertainment is the key to being King, while Volcamon says it’s exercise and they then decide to battle.
Back to the group, Tentomon has treasure from the scrap pile, Agumon is sad he can’t eat it. Mimi finds maracas and Palmon is very excited too. Mimi starts saying Amigo, and then starts saying Mimigo, which is a fairly cute moment.
Mimi notices Koshiro’s DiM card and asks what it is. Koshiro says it looks like a memory storage but hasn’t plugged it in because of viruses, but Mimi takes it and plugs it in and their Digivices glow.
Komodoamon grinds to a stop because of the rap battle but something is wrong with the partner Digimon. Agumon sets fire to Taichi, Piyomon can’t stop flying, Palmon is a GIANT FLOWERING PLANT, Gomamon can’t control his marching fishes, Tailmon is just a cat (cute moment how she’s trying to attack the marching fishes), Patamon is a balloon, Gabumon is just a pelt, and Tentomon is a manzai comedian…
The children leave the Komodamon and see Etemon and Volcamon. Koshiro says that the sounds are disrupting their Digimon’s behaviour.
Etemon asks if they’re the chosen children and Etemon says that nobody survivies after faing the chosen Children so Etemon and Volcamon decide to fight the children to decide who is king.
Agumon evolves to Greymon, but his attack doesn’t work. Piyomon then evolves but can’t stop running. Tentomon is still doing his routine, Gabumon is missing, and Ikakumon attacks Joe instead.
Palmon then EATS Patamon. AGAIN WITH THE VORE. Greymon then evolves to MetalGreymon but Etemon’s music disrupts his missile, and then MetalGreymon reverts to Agumon.
Mimi then approaches Etemon and Volcamon and says that she and Palmon were impressed and then Mini asks what the King of Digimon means. Etemon says he used to be made fun of for being weak so he had an anime training montage. Same with Volcamon. I kinda of which we get to see some evolution here, but they just were Etemon and Volcamon in their flashbacks.
Mimi and Palmon get blown away by Etemon and Volcamon’s music. Palmon then runs off and shakes her maraca, says Mimigo, and absorbs the maraca. Mimi then gets Palmon to evolve. Patamon is still inside Palmon, by the way.
So this means that Palmon evolves to Ponchomon, who is Patamon with the digimental of Purity. Then Mimi drops all the Spanish she knows – which is not much. It’s not Ponchomon’s power, but her groove apparently.
Everything is back to normal now and Koshiro finally gets the data from the DiM, it’s a map – but it also shows the landscape from the past as well, so they now know how to reach FAGA.
Etemon and Volcamon are now Palmon fans too!
This time we learn about Golemon in the encyclopedia and Koshiro wonders if Golemon’s wires can be used to knit a sweater. Next time it’s Burgamon
