Following on from last week’s review and, of course, our podcast discussion episode, it’s time to watch the 49th episode of Digimon Ghost Game)!
Opening thoughts
Japan likes their US holidays, so we get a Halloween themed episode of Digimon Ghost Game!
Considering how alarming last year’s episode was, I wonder how hard they’ll go this time!
Digimon Ghost Game Episode 49 “The Crimson Harvest Festival”
Let’s see how scary another Halloween episode will be!
A group of girls dressed as Witches find Witchmon, who turn two of them into real witches while the characters are helping set up the school for the festival again.
The force feeding of eyeballs is actually horrifying.
One of the characters helping gets turner into a Witch and she then turns another into a Witch and a few who aren’t dressed as witches into rats. Ruli saves the rats but we then see another rat being eated by the cat familiar of a witch.
The characters decide to dress as witches to blend in. Angoramon wearing a witch outfit is really important to me right now. They get discovered however and get their Digimon to evolve. I love the use of colours in this episode, it’s very creepy.
I also love how Witchmon’s attacks are references to the Magical Witches virtual pets.
Pumpkinmon rescues the group. Hiro gets blown off KausGammamon and KausGammamon evolves to CanonWeismon.
The clock strikes midnight and everything goes back to normal which is kind of boring, even the rats who got eaten get thrown up. Turns out her magic only works one day and she just wanted friends but says that humans are trash and then asks if Gammamon is the dark conqueror.
