Following on from last week’s review and, of course, our podcast discussion episode, it’s time to watch the 66th episode of Digimon Adventure: (2020)!
Opening thoughts
So it’s time for the start of the final battle, I wonder if we’ll get Omegamon Vanilla again or if we’ll be getting Alter S like in the Digivice: toy.
Digimon Adventure 2020 Episode 66 “The Last Miracle, The Last Power”
Digimon Adventure 2020 Episode 66 Review
The children remember that they have parents in the human world and all decide to battle and not to give up as Negamon is evolving.
Kids around the world are watching the battle like in Our War Game. Koshiro realises that the effects from Negamon are spreading across the world and not just Japan. Negamon’s body is just a Beholder from Dungeons and Dragons I guess.
The art in this episode is just completely different from anything we’ve seen this entire series I swear. It turns out that they were just attacking a shell. We see shots across the world and I’m glad that the McDonalds here is called MgRonalds.
Negamon attacks and the chosen children are floating in a weird between world as their existence gets eaten away. Oh did I say the chosen children? I meant the kids that aren’t Taichi and Yamato, which are still fighting, because of course they are, and their siblings too.
The angels are able to bring the other chosen back along with the hopes from the children around the world as well as their Digimon friends they’ve met. They then receive emails from the children. Somehow.
The children wish for a miracle and their Digimon all evolve straight to Mega again. Devimon also appears, as does DarkKnightmon’s shadow.
WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon jogress to form Omegamon which would be really cool had he not appeared in episode 2 and episode 18 and the episode ends because of course it does.
We’re learning about Omegamon in the encyclopedia and learn about how the cape acts as a shield and Tentomon said he wanted a cape too. Koromon next time.
Rating for Digimon Adventure 2020 Episode 66
1.5/5
It was a really pretty episode but I still can’t get passed the random emails that were somehow received in a much more confusing way than in Our War Game. Overall, this episode would have been far more impactful if we hadn’t already pulled out Omegamon twice in the first quarter of the show, because seeing him here, once again, makes me wonder why it couldn’t be pulled out any other time the children had struggled.
But at least it looked pretty.
