Following on from last week’s review and, of course, our podcast discussion episode, it’s time to watch the 26th episode of Digimon Adventure: (2020)!
Opening thoughts
After last week’s episode, I am very much not looking forward to watching and my only hope is that we finally bring the two groups of chosen together and that it’s done in an actually well written way.

Digimon Adventure 2020 Episode 26 Review
Koshiro has some realisation and I sure do hope it’s how they can be more relevant in the show. To the Digital World, Taichi is looking through his telescope and says how he would have never guessed that they were all on a cloud the entire time. Leomon didn’t know either or something. Leomon says if they have no way to return, they have no choice but to move forward.
Weirdly, it’s almost like last episode could have been written away in a single line “oh we fell and now we’re on a floating island Digimon.”
Suddenly, Ebidramon shows up with a Seadramon and start to fight, which is pretty cool as I do like random monster fights that are just more territorial and instinctive – especially when Seadramon eats Ebidramon and then evolves to WaruSeadramon.
Back to the human world, Koshiro explains that the issue with the ships could be solved without fighting the Zurumon – they just have to fix the bug in the GPS. Judging by the discussion about sending out the relay that would fix the bug, surely fighting the swarms of baby Digimon would be easier, but Koshiro says that they have no other choice. So, whatever.
WaruSeadramon is about to attack Takeru so Agumon and Gabumon evolve which is a lot quicker than a charging Digimon about to bite a child who is a few metres away. WaruSeadramon is beaten back, but then starts screaming under water, Patamon translates and says how he’s saying that there’s food here, which calls a MegaSeadramon.
Yeah, I have no idea how they’re not evolving to fight the perfect level Digimon. Taichi tells Yamato to get Patamon and Takeru out of here, which is a weird choice because there are two perfect level Digimon that they could figth if they evolve. Yamato gets immediately cornered by the WaruSeadramon though.
Back to the human world, Mimi is screaming excitedly and Sora reminds her that Hikari exists, which is still just hilarious how everyone keeps forgetting.
In the Digital World, there’s a battle and Taichi falls off a cliff, presumably to his death as Greymon is beaten up by MegaSeadramon. However, Taichi is apparently able to hold his breath for much longer than a ten year old should be able to.
Back to the human world, Joe mentions how Digimon eat Data and this is a feeding ground for Digimon. AtlurKabuterimon notices how there are black sparks coming from where the Zurumon were eating. The Zurumon then disappear.
Koshiro says that the energy must have been sent to the Digital World and something must be happening. Hikari says that she’s being called and LIGHTS UP AND TRANSPORTS THEM ALL TO THE DIGITAL WORLD WHICH IS THE LAZIEST WRITING EVER BUT I GUESS MAKES SENSE BECAUSE JESUS POWERS.
Anyway, back to the Digital World, Taichi is under water and still alive apparently and his Digivice glows and everyone attacks Mega Seadramon after Greymon rides it to the surface. Another Seadramon shows up as well as WarSeadramon, another MegaSeadramon, and a second Seadramon. Taichi hears Hikari’s voice and then Zudomon shows up to rescue Taichi and Agumon. The rest of the cast fight.
We learn that Hikari is here too and Taichi’s reaction is very stunned and surprisingly empty. We get a voice over update about how all ships have regained control and a military clash has been avoided. Taichi asks Hikari why she’s here and she just says that she was called.
And then we get my favourite ending animation and song for the last time as I believe we’re getting a new one next week? So, that’s exciting.
In the encyclopaedia, we get introduced to Zudomon, where we learn that Zudomon’s shell is a trophy won off another Digimon. Koshiro wonders if there’s a stock of them and wonders if the shell is changed depending on the mood and Koshiro will check next time – this is a great concept I would love to see! Patamon is next!
Rating for Digimon Adventure 2020 Episode 26
3.5/5
So we have the children together which is my main (and probably only) highlight from this week’s episode other than, of course, seeing WaruSeadramon make an appearance.
The reason for the children rejoining felt very ‘plot convenient’ – yes, so it’s probably Tailmon/Ofanimon calling for Hikari, but if that’s the case, does that mean we won’t get to see an evil Tailmon, which has, so far, been one of my hopes and predictions for the show?
Otherwise, it could be Homeostasis who is calling her, which seems likely considering Homeostasis is basically used whenever plot needs to do some magic.
In general, I don’t see why Hikari was called then and not earlier, but that’s just me.
In addition, last week’s episode and this week’s seem so weirdly connected, like if you told me they had just fallen off cloud continent and are now sailing on Eldoradimon, I would totally have 0 questions as nothing really happened last week.
